I found out about the action by accident and it did not quite fit my schedule, so I just went to the spot. Because the organizer probably did not take a motorbike magazine worth invitation to an event presenting a four-wheeled machine, I had quite a trouble getting inside. A press card was not enough without an invitation, sent out perhaps based on a roulette key.

Honestly, I did not questioned the details and did it my way. It was not somebody's good grace that I got in, but the impossibility to get the security guys ready for everything. The abrupt article I wrote for the Svet Motorek (World of Motorbikes) therefore does not mention any oil company, believed to sponsor the action, as the F1 cars are said to enjoy their gas. You could maybe pour the slop into a tank of a good motorbike - on the other hand, if the World of Motorbikes does not exist for them, why promote them?

Formula 1 in Prague
On the 21st of July in Prague 9, on new tarmac of Ceskomoravska near the Sazka Arena, Rubens Barrichello spun the wheels of his Ferrari monopost. On one hand, fascinating thing, such an exhibition, definitelly gives you a feeling of being a part of the world. On the other hand, the sound of the engine was the most interesting for the visitors, to hear the symphony in your own ears. Otherwise we all believe that Barrichello can speed up, brake, turn around, speed up... A flick of head, something red sweeps by, if lucky you can say the colour of the thing through the openning in the crowd... Of course, the atmosphere as thick as cream, but to the eyes of normal spectators, who did not pushed themselves to the fire-brigade's car roof with telescopic lens, like me, the showcase of about 10 sport-touring cars Ferrari and a bikers' show was something to watch. The new tarmac evidently suited the contestants from the Czech Dragster Championship, who were equal with F1 in terms of decibells. Next, there was an exhibition of Tom Gryf who keeps surprising with new tricks while blinfold. Last time I met him in spring, he was making a slalom in a line of girls on a scooter lent from our editor's office. We really appreciated his skill as the scooter was a piece of an old scrap that he had never seen before. This time he did the same in a small Fiat cabrio. Anyway, spectators were probably the most taken by Marek Matousek's exhibition with Yamaha R1, riding on both front and back wheels - usual thing for us, but for the wheel men, expecting an F1, it was a wonder.
