Scott Hookey
and Ryal Harris set to join CAMS Australian GT Championship grid
Scott Hookey and Ryal Harris will join the CAMS Australian
GT Championship field this weekend at Barbagallo. The duo will join forces to compete behind the wheel of an Erebus
Motorsport prepared Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3. Hookey is making his first appearance in the CAMS Australian GT
Championship for the season, though it will be his second GT outing
following a successful inaugural CAMS Australian GT Trophy Series
presented by Pirelli weekend. At Sandown, two commanding performances saw Hookey drive his Exotic
Tracks Days Ferrari 458 to victory in the Challenge Class in both
races. He will be partnered this weekend by Ryal Harris, who will make his CAMS
Australian GT Championship debut. The reigning V8 Ute Racing Series Champion, Harris' 2015 success was the
third time he's claimed the crown in the competitive category. Meanwhile CAMS Australian GT Championship regular Mark Griffith will sit
out the event as he recovers from an injuries sustained while competing
at Phillip Island two weeks ago. The passionate racer had hoped to be back to full health and take his
place on the Australian GT grid for the third round of the
championship but will instead focus his efforts on his recovery. The CAMS Australian GT Championship takes to the Barbagallo circuit for
the first time on Friday morning, starting with a 20 minute practice
session. All sessions from Qualifying 1 will be broadcast live on Fox Sports,
channel 506. CAMS
