Singapore selected to host F1 in Schools World Finals 2018

Singapore is the destination selected for the F1 in Schools STEM Challenge World Finals 2018, with the event taking place alongside the FORMULA 1 2018 SINGAPORE AIRLINES SINGAPORE GRAND PRIX, with the support of the Singapore Tourism Board.

The country has hosted two previous F1 in Schools World Finals, the first in 2010 at the Ngee Ann Polytechnic Convention Centre and again in 2015, with the event moving to Sentosa Island’s Hard Rock Hotel. The World Finals returns to this venue for a second time with over 500 students, teachers and supporters travelling to the popular Asian location for the event that starts on 9th September and runs for five days, followed by four days at the Grand Prix.

The world’s most exciting educational initiative, F1 in Schools, will be staging its 14th World Finals, welcoming over 50 teams representing more than 25 countries, all competing for the Formula 1 F1 in Schools World Champions trophy and university scholarships.

F1 in Schools started in the UK in 2000 and since this time has expanded across the globe, enjoying year-on-year international growth. It is now accessible to over 26 million students in 45 countries.

Andrew Denford, Founder and Chairman, F1 in Schools, looks ahead to the Singapore World Finals saying, “We have always received the warmest of welcomes in Singapore and it is a great location for our event. The conference venue at the Hard Rock Hotel provides us with the space and facilities we need to stage such a large competition and Resorts World Sentosa also has all the leisure attractions that the students can enjoy, rewarding all the hard work they put into F1 in Schools.”

He adds, “Staging the event in conjunction with the Grand Prix gives our students the opportunity to experience first-hand the spectacle of the sport and in Singapore, it is a night race, which makes it extra special.”

The F1 in Schools World Finals 2018 is supported by Formula 1 and in partnership with The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), City, University of London, UCL Engineering, Denford Ltd, Autodesk and Singapore Tourism Board.
