The GP of Italy or the Black Day for Ferrari

The Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro drivers were the favourites for this race, as it was their domestic GP. The qualification turned out quite in favour of Vodafone McLaren Mercedes. K. Räikkönen crashed his car so bad, that the mechanics did not bother fixing it but they had to put the engine into the T-car, otherwise Kimi would go back 10 places. This way he could start from the fifth place. The race might have been partially decided in the first corner. And that was what happened. Alonso went like a silver arrow, followed closely by the excellently starting Ferrari drivers. It almost seemed that Massa might get to the second position, when Hamilton quite boldly made it for the second place. He was followed by Massa, K. Räikkönen, Heidfeld, Kubica. As soon as the first lap D.Coulthard hit the tire barrier. It seemed that his front wing gave in at 250kph. The Safety Car was deployed immediately, but it got to the circuit behind Alonso. Of course, in the next lap already was the first but stayed until the lap 6. The restart went without problems and Alonso went on again. In the lap 44 Massa was into the pit stop for a very long time - 11 s, something was obviously wrong. Having come out of the pit stop, he took one lap only to return back to the pits, mechanics jumping at the car, but after a moment, the race for Felipe was over.

There was an interesting moment in the lap 30 in the BMW pits. Kubica's car falls onto the tarmac without the front wheel, mechanics jumping around, trying to lift it by hands, the front lift is impossible to get from under the car immediately. Robert makes up for the 20s gap and in the end comes fifth.The race results are alarming for the Italians, both Alonso and Hamilton literally drove away from the others. So, it is the 4th victory for Alonso this year and support for L.Hamilton - double of McLaren-Mercedes. The third place is a satisfaction for Scuderia Ferrari - Kimi Räikkönen. Ron Dennis wipes tears from his face, yes, his team beat Ferrari on the domestic turf.On Thursday September 13, 2007 in Paris, there is the FIA hearing over the espionage affair McLaren Mercedesgate, as I call it. We will see whether Alonso's confession and the behind the scenes politics of F1 will mean the disqualification of Dennis‘ team or if the Championship continues with all teams. Everything might be quite different. However, this is already past sport, this is completely other agenda. The upcoming race next weekend will decide.
