Blancpain GT Series 2016
(Hannover, 3.10.2016). Attempto Racing was in action on two fronts at the weekend: the Sprint Cup, which forms part of the Blancpain GT Series, in Barcelona and the ADAC GT Masters in Hockenheim. Success evaded the team from Hannover in both series. The team finished 19th in the final race of the Sprint Cup at the Formula 1 circuit in Barcelona. The Attempto team fielded a junior team in this year’s ADAC GT Masters, and had to learn the hard way at times.
Attempto Racing failed to finish in the points at the final round of the 2016 Blancpain GT Series. The team fielded its familiar number 100 Lamborghini Huracán GT3 in the tenth and final race of the year, but with a less familiar driver line-up: Italian Daniel Zampieri (26), who had previously only driven the number 101 car, shared the cockpit with Dutchman Max van Splunteren (20).
Max van Splunteren and Daniel Zampieri laid a good foundation for the race in Sunday morning’s qualifying race. The duo climbed from 25th on the grid to finish 17th. The team dropped back to 25th place in the early stages of the main race, before Daniel Zampieri fought back to 19th in the blue Lamborghini following the mandatory pit stop and driver changeover. The Blancpain GT Series now takes a hard-earned winter break, before the 2017 season kicks off on 1st and 2nd April 2017 in Misano, Italy.
Meanwhile, the ADAC NSA Attempto Racing Team lined up for the final race of the ADAC GT Masters at the Hockenheimring, near Heidelberg, with regular drivers Emil Lindholm and André Gies. They showed their potential with 11th place in qualifying for race one, but then had to settle for 17th in the race itself. Race two came to a premature end on lap one following a collision.
