The would be M.Schumacher - Sebastian Vettel won the qualification, the major factor being his light car, which is also the centerfold of his strategy. That much was obvious also at his team mate Webber. After the FIA's clearing of the difusors, which was to expected, as Ross Brawn did not do anything wrong, all teams have started modifying their cars. That had an immediate effect on Renault, so Alonso was second on the grid. A great fight was expected between Webber (33) and Barrichello (37), veterans of the Championship. The weather showed in the morning, it was raining. At the start, the rain was really heavy and reminded of Malaysia. The start was behind the Safety Car, which went in on the lap 8. The drama started on the lap 18, when Kubica hit Trulli's rear and put him out of race. Kubica had his nose cone changed. The SC is deployed again, the track is cleaned, the rain gets heavier. On the lap 19 there is a collision of Vettel and Buemi, but they both go on. Lap 20, Massa retires as his cars just stops dead. Other crashes come, SC out again. T.Glock changes his front wing on the lap 24, Piquet kisses the wall having overspinned and hit a banner on the lap 27, blowing his front wing to smithereens, bringing a lot of dirt on the tarmac. Lap 27 to go, J.Button fails to brake to the corner losing his second place, as he is immediately passed by Webber. They change positions once more with Webber victorious in the end. In that time, Vettel enjoys a comfortable advantage of 25 s before the second Webber. Kubica needs to deal with his nose cone bent to one side, Nakajima retires 12 laps before the end, 10 laps to go retires Piquet, 6 laps to go Sutil smashes his car against the rubber barrier, however he is ok. It is still raining.
