2016 Calendar Announcement

The 2016 season is set to be the biggest ever for Australian GT, with the hugely popular CAMS Australian GT Championship joined by the all-new CAMS Australian Endurance Championship and Australian GT Trophy Series presented by Pirelli.

The expanded calendar of events caters to the growing demand for GT racing within Australia from both fans and competitors. With fifteen events spread across thirteen weekends, it makes for the biggest season in Australian GT history, at the end of which three champions will be crowned.

Alongside the CAMS Australian GT Championship, which will feature races between 30 and 60 minutes in duration, the all-new CAMS Australian Endurance Championship will take in a four round championship across two countries.

Maintaining the popular 101 lap format, the CAMS Australian Endurance Championship opens at Phillip Island on the Sunday following the fourth round of the CAMS Australian GT Championship and will race at V8 Supercars Sydney Motorsport Park SuperSprint. The Championship then climaxes with an exciting double-header at Hampton Downs and Highlands Motorsport Park in New Zealand.

A hugely competitive field of cars is also set to battle it out in the Australian GT Trophy Series presented by Pirelli. GT3 Trophy, GT3 Challenge and GT4 class cars are all eligible for the Series, which will host five rounds in conjunction with the Shannons Nationals. The 2016 season will be the first time the Australian GT Trophy Series has been awarded, and adds another new dimension to Australian GT.
