Formula V8/3.5 Tom Dillmann (AVF) sets a new lap record for the Formula 3.5 V8 discipline in Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya: 1.28.664 Jake Hughes (Carlin): “The car is only three tenths slower than the Force India in the F1 qualy in Barcelona! This is way too fast

The private practice from the Formula 3.5 V8 teams has concluded in the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya with the Frenchman AVF driver Tom Dillmann in command of both sessions. His morning lap, 1.28.664, is the new lap record in this discipline. In the combined lap times, Swiss Kevin Jörg, third in the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0, was second fastest, followed by the Sahara Force India test and development driver, Alfonso Celis (AVF).

There were two changes in the Formula 3.5 V8 team's Entry list for today's private testing: The Ferrari driver Antonio Fuoco landed in Arden Motorsport, while the F3 German driver Markus Pommer joined RP Motorsport. The former EuroOpen F3 winner in 2014, Sandy Stuvik, shared the wheel of the other RP car with the Brazilian Vítor Baptista. Most of the teams run their cars using a qualification set-up during the first half session. The weather conditions were perfect and air temp similar to spring. Tom Dillmann (AVF) completed a perfect lap in 1.28.664, setting a new record of this car in the Circuit, 0.885 seconds ahead of , Kevin Jörg (Lotus). Alfonso Celis (AVF) was the third fastest. In the afternoon teams were focusing in long runs and race set-up. At the end of the Session Tom Dillmann (AVF) was again the dominant driver leaving outpacing the Fortec Motorsports pair Jack Aitken and later Louis Delétraz, finally fourth and fifth, behind a Jörg and Celis.

The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya will host two days of official collective testing in 2016 next 29th and 30th of March.

QUOTESTom Dillmann (AVF): "Yesterday we tried many things in the car and this morning we could put everything together to make a performance with new tyres and the car felt really good. We improved a lot from yesterday and I could everything together in my lap which is not easy here, especially with sector three. And that's why the gap to P2 was big. It's nice to finish the year with a record and it's really fun!"Kevin Jörg (LOTUS): "This morning it was quite good, I think the official test in Motorland was very good, yesterday was not the best but this morning I had an excellent time with the car. For me next year is Formula 3.5 V8 or GP3. For the driving this car, the Formula 3.5 is a lot better, it's a bigger car, it hasbigger tires and also a lot more downforce, and it's fastest on the fast corners, also the carbon brakes feels very good on the braking and I've had more track time, but it's a difficult decision. I have to think it, but wat is sure is that this championship will be very good".

Jack Aitken (Fortec Motorsports): "Overall this is quite a difficult track but it is a good experience to come down and take the challenge. Today we truly found our pace. Yesterday it was a little bit unfortunate what happened to the car with the fire extinguisher. I was a bit tired at the end of the day and made a couple of mistakes. Without that we could be challenging Jörg for P2. Overall stills a good pace, I'm quite happy."Louis Delétraz (Fortec Motorsport): "Very good day although I was a little bit struggling this morning with the pace. I was not really confident with the car and we decided to change something and it went better and better. The first run in new tyres I was P1. It's very good to end the Season like this! I'm looking forward to 2016. I have a very competitive car and a very good team and I have to do the job!"

Sandy Stuvik (RP Motorsport): "This is a real beast of a car! I'm very surprised with the incredible downforce it produces; it's in another league in comparison with the GP3. The feeling when you drive it is incredible and in the fast corners is a really fast car. I knew the team RP Motorsport before, and we had great experience, we won the F3 championship, so this helps me a lot in my debut with the Formula 3.5 V8".

Adrián Vallés (AVF Team Principal): "This will be our fourth year with this car and I think we have been working hard during the last years. Now we have experienced drivers like Tom Dillmannn, who is helping a lot to develop the car and the team, and also Alfonso Celis Jr, who is improving all the time. I think that P1 and P3 shows that we are working hard, and our target is be in the top 5 regularly next year, and that is what we will do".
