F1 history cars
Phil Hill's car, the first American ever to win the title in 1961. There were two characteristic air inlets in its pointed front. As one of unusual features there was a dry disk clutch behind the 5-speed gearbox outside the mechanism allowing thus easy accessibility and cooling. The camber of wire wheels, with trapezoidal suspension, was adjustable. There was a rack-and-pinion steering. The advantage the car proved, both in engine and construction, seemed to be huge. John Surtees won the Championship with this car in 1964.
