Tens of thousands of fans expected their beloved Alonso to win, even more so when he was leading for twenty laps having started from the fourth place. However, it was his swan song. As soon as the faster ones, whom he had been successfully slowing down, got in front of him, they could go almost three seconds per lap faster than him and he was lapped. That is the difference between the second league and HRT, not the top three teams. It is pointless to say anything about Massa, he made several mistakes and limped to the gravel from the depths of the low ten. You can't be seriously talking about qualification these days, the separation of the seven is clear, six freshmen and one, whose car stops right at the start. This time it was Heidfeld to burn. Than there is the division to the top ten and the rest. Practically just a formality, the saved set of soft tires is more important that the starting position. There isn't much racing in the top ten either, most are quite fine with one fast lap, and if it doesn't came out well, well, who cares. There are even those, who rather give up the first start at all - see Schumacher. Despite all this the grid is pretty standard, two Red Bulls in the front, though in reversed position, Hamilton in the second row with diligent Alonso, then Button with the remaining Renault. The last two rows were taken by Mercedes with Massa's Ferrari and, surprisingly, Maldonado's Williams. The beginning of the race was interesting, when Alonso zigzagged to the front and stayed there for twenty laps no matter what. Behind them two Red Bulls first, than only Vettel and Hamilton, driving away from the others. Button starting from the tenth position makes his way forward inconscipiously, the fifth Petrov falls through, whereas Heidfeld comes for the points from the last place. The front, except for Button, with a five stint strategy gives a lap to the fifth Alonso, which is unique in a dry race. Vettel is first by small margin before Hamilton, Button has thirty seconds loss, Webber another ten. Behind Alonso there are both Mercedes, in a reversed order, which means Schumacher before Rosenberg. They are almost closely followed by Heidfeld just before the finish. The last points are not surprisingly scored by Saubers, but with the novice in the front. The race that just finished was once again highly interesting, Red Bulls showed in the best shape, slightly before McLaren, the others are far behind. And that is against all prognosis, signalling new elements that should have brought more equal races.
