I was happy to test a Mercdes Benz - Roadster 200K today. I have already driven its previous generation for 3 days and everything was fantastic. This time I had enough time with the new SLK 200K to provide you with a short review. You can see the omnipresent comfort for yourselves in the snaps. So I'd rather speak about something new to me, which is the automatic gearbox. To be honest, I have never driven the automatic before as it is not, somehow, my cup of tea. Anyway, I got no choice this time and experienced something new. For anyone driving automatic for the first time I recommend strongly that you tie your left leg to the seat with a rope, otherwise you may face unpleasant situations, or even an accident. As you can see, there are only two pedals, brake and gas. As soon as you release brake, the car moves immediately. When you press the brake, the gearbox reacts shifting down until you stop. BUT your left foot used to manual tends to step on the clutch on the left, i.e. brake now, so it happens that both your feet meet on the same pedal and you have a problem. Car brakes drastically and God forbid anybody driving close behind you, as he would check the inside of your boot in an instant. I made the mistake in spite of the dealer's constant warning. It is a real habit, which dies out as the time goes, of course and you use just the two pedals, as it should be. I once met a guy in Ferrari who would never drive anything else than automatic. I understand now, getting used to manual again would be probably quite a problem.
