Whoever expected some surprise in atypical Monte Carlo, couldn't stop wondering. All matters went along this year's predetermined scenario, with little variations, perhaps, for those later born. The matadors proved their skills in the narrow streets faultless. The same can not, however, be said about the young ones, except for Rosberg maybe. Of course, the cars played their role as well, as their participated in the most of the crashes. Possibly the worst chassis you could see at McLarens, when their cart-like set cars more bounced in the air then drove and were the cause of the crashes of both drivers (Hamilton in the practice, Kovalainen in the race). They only raced for the last position with BMW, whereas Kubica stopped immediately after the start with a technical trouble.
On the other side, there were unsurprisingly both Brawns and, quite surprisingly, also both Ferraris. Vettel held the Red Bull's flag, but also other cars of Newey's inspiration were quite prominent. You could say the same about Williams and surprisingly Force India, which outperformed both factory failures (Fisico finished one place down from the points). Alonso did what he could, but it was just enough for the seventh place, which is as much as Renault can currently hope for.It was a real pleasure to watch both Brawns, which, contrary to the others, really shock absorbed on the uneven road and kept their line safely. Maybe it will be clear now that not a magic diffuser but a working mechanic grip, working like a car, not cart, is the real cause of their amazing progress. It appears that both drivers are in a different league, they are able to work out a solid gap which they only maintain. Ferrari surprised by teaching their cars to steer, thus allowing both their drivers a full use of KERS. Vettel paid the price of not enough experience and oversteering rear axle, just like a youngster Buemi, who managed to shoot down Piquet in the process. Nakajima did his usual "job", even though he hadn't crashed until the last but one lap. Toyota had a hard time in the practice, remained off the points, however, Glock, starting from the pit lane, squeezed into the top ten.The summary of the sixth race is easy. The third double of Brawn, the Title defender lapped for the second time, those are the markers. On the contrary, the Ferrari's improvement, unprecedented failure of Toyota and the despair of BMW were not a surprise for anybody.
