F1
The pedals of an F1 car are designed individually for each driver. There are only two pedals in modern cars - accelerator and brakes, that are made of light and stiff titanium. The F1 pilots control each pedal by one feet - left the brakes and right the accelerator and no shifting of feet is required like with usual road cars.
The pedals are fitted with side and sometimes also top stops to prevent the feet from slipping. These may be adjustable. The driver's heels are positioned in a composite bed, again to prevent them from slipping or changing their position. The accelerator is electronic (drive-by-wire), i.e. there is no mechanical tie to the engine. The driver only controls a potentiometer sending pure electronic signal to the engine. The pedals are not subject to any wear, however new ones are produced each season to improve the pilots comfort.
