F1 history cars
The car of Jack Brabham, World Champion in 1966 (the same specification in 1967) and the 1967 World Champion Dennis Hulme's car. The car was based on girder frame. Surprisingly, the one camshaft Repco engine, with one intake and one blowoff valve for each cylinder, performed the lowest power output, compared to the others. However, the favourable torque performance together with the lowest weight of all F1 cars then gave it advantage in acceleration and cornering. Furthermore, good steering, driving characteristics and reliability went hand in hand. Uncovered engine was typical for the time. Please notice the exhaust piping, designed carefully to lead exhaust gas away. The exhaust pipe was lead individually from each cylinder to prevent the pressure peaks interference, which has a negative effect on scavenging.
