SRT Corvette closes off the International GT Open and is already looking ahead to 2015!

In 2014 the Belgian SRT team competed in the full International GT Open championship with a Corvette C6.R GTE. This season, in its comeback year, the Belgian team scored no less than three victories, clinched six additional podium places and as such greatly contributed to the constructor’s title for Corvette in this renowned international championship for GT cars. SRT’s comeback year, a team run by father and son Patrick and Niels Selleslagh, was undoubtedly highly successful. For 2015 the Brussels based team is aiming not only at a new season in the International GT Open, but a participation in the GTE class of the high ranked European Le Mans Series is also on the team’s wish list.

“In all fairness this final weekend of the International GT Open, with a 9^th and 5^th place was not the team’s dream way of ending the season”, Patrick Selleslagh, the team manager honestly admitted. “The car’s set-up appeared to be a problem child and various race incidents did the rest. But all in all the season’s overall balance sheet is good, what with three wins as also a series of podium places, and I’m delighted that we at SRT were able to contribute to the constructor’s title for Corvette. With our team we have a close tie of more than ten seasons with the Detroit constructor and I think we will be carrying on with them for a few more seasons. I’m also truly delighted with our participation in the International GT Open, a solid championship with some stiff competition.”

The successes gained in the International GT Open stems back to SRT’s past with Corvette, with amongst others victories in the 24 Hours of Zolder, the Belcar championship, the FIA GT and last but not least the World Championship GT1.

“In 2015 we will be continuing with our Corvette C6.R GTE and we are obviously opting for the championship in which we started out this season, but also the European Le Mans Series is a serious lead. Our Corvette finds itself back in its natural habitat, in a championship that originated in Le Mans. Whoever wishes to race against Aston Martin, Ferrari or Porsche, can definitely do that with our machine. The European Le Mans Series is comprised out of five races on brilliant circuits, with an awesome field of entrants. It goes without saying that I am fully convinced that SRT can more than hold its own there.”
