MERCHTEM. SRT did
not go unnoticed in their international comeback during the opening meeting of
the International GT Open at the Nürburgring, with Maxime Soulet and Nicky
Catsburg. In the meantime the team has come to an agreement with the Spanish
driver Isaac Tutumlu and the Belgian Maxime Soulet to compete in the entire
championship. Following the strong performance during the first weekend this
duo has every intention of carrying on in this light as from the next upcoming
round, to be held in Portimao, on 7th and 8th June.
Maxime Soulet needs no introduction, but who is Isaac Tutumlu? He was born in Barcelona, Spain on 5th July 1985 and is more than at home in the world of sport. He speaks six languages fluently and studied Tourism and Public Relations. Today he runs his own company, BTM Holding, dedicated to international football management.
“I started off at a very young age in go-karting”, the new SRT Corvette driver commented. “I carried on through to my 20th birthday and won numerous different championships, such as Formula Catalunya, Kart Club Valles Championship, Campionat de Catalunya… As from my 20th I switched over to Touring cars, GT and Prototypes, with participations and victories in amongst others the Nissan 350Z Challenge, Open Prototype in Spain, Winter European Radical Series, International GT Open, IberGT, and Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup… My aim this season is to battle it out for the GT Open title and I’m fully convinced I have found the perfect partners with SRT Corvette and Maxime Soulet.”
It goes without saying that for SRT’s comeback on the international scene the challenge is a fairly heavy one. However the team is ready to take on what might come.
Patrick Selleslagh: “I’m obviously delighted with this agreement. We have two young in-house drivers, both are fully conversant with the championship and the circuits and I’m sure that Maxime will perfectly share the experience he has of the Corvette with his Spanish teammate. It’s a homogenous duo and as such we can quite rightly have ambitions. How we bring this about we’ll see during the course of the season, but one thing is for sure – we intend to battle it out up front. I’m looking forward to our upcoming round in Portugal!”
