Alonso winner again
Everything looked simple at Hockeinheim at first. McLaren is going to be the best after 7 years again. Häkkinen and Coulthard were the first here in 1998. This time Kimi Räikkönen was the fastest in qualification, bringing the 119th pole position to the team. Split times then outlined that Montoya is going to be with him in the front row. But he lost control in the last corner ending up in the barrier. He had to start from the last row. So there were Button with B.A.R. next to Räikkönen in the first row, both Renaults with Alonso and Fisichella behind them, then M. Schumacher and Webber. Barrichello came no more than the 15th. F1 novice Robert Doorms with Minardi was also in the last row. The threat of the rain seemed optimistic for Ferrari, however it didn't come.
The race itself showed absolute dominance of Räikkönen. Alonso and Schumacher, quite otherwise Button and Fisichella slumped. Webber had to retire after collision as well. Montoya got to the 9th place during 3 laps attacking the points. That didn't change much until the lap 35 when Räikkönen retired unexpectedly with an engine trouble. He didn't win any points at Hockenheim the fifth time at stretch. Thus Alonso made his way to the lead and won the sixth time this year without any problems. Montoya got right behind him in the very end of the race. M. Schumacher had big problems with tirewear. Button and Fisichella overtook him. Toytota won their first points in Germany (R. Schumacher 6th). Coulthard improved his hall of the fame standings being 5th with 39 points. There are only a couple of drivers more successful: M. Schumacher - 63 points, 3 victories, Prost 50, Senna 40 and Fangio 39 points.
