There is a paraphrase for the race that matches with the famous film's title "Boredom in..." - Mogyorod! The only wonder to be seen in free practice. The fastest Räikkönen leapt over M.Schumacher, Montoya and Coulthard, giving McLaren hope to get over this year's crisis at last. However the first practice returned them back to reality. Barrichello and M.Schumacher achieved the best times, Räikkönen came 10th and Coulthard even worse, 16th. The qualification only proved that there is nothing new in F1: M.Schumacher and Barrichello took the first row on the grip, followed by both BARs - Sato and Button . Pizzonia, William's test pilot covering for R.Schumacher, did surprisingly well. Ralf was believed to race again as early as Hungary, but postponed his comeback to Monza probably. Räikkönen came 10th again, Coulthard 12th.
It is virtually impossible to overtake on Hungaroring. Therefore the Ferrari couple kept in the front from the very beginning, racing for themselves. Others lined up behind - Alonso (after a perfect start), Montoya, Button, Trulli and Räikkönen - although the latter only until the lap 13. He had to give up for a technical failure for the sixth time this year. This order almost did not change even during the pit stops. There were another 5 dropouts from the race, first of them Trulli. Coulthard tried in vain to reach the points. The final standing was: Michael Schumacher (12th time out of 13 races), Barichello (the seventh team double this year), Alonso, Montoya, Button and one lap later also Sato, Pizzonia and Fisichella.M.Schumacher has collected 120 points and because there are just 5 GP left, only Barichello could be a threat (82 points). The others are out of the game.Ferrari ensured the Constructors‘ Cup with its 202 points. Not Renault (91), nor BAR (83) could endanger it. McLaren's 5th place with its 37 points is triste.So, why is Ferrari still racing?!
