Räikkönen for the fourth time
There is something special about the GP Hungary. Not a single time it rained there for the past 20 years! Quite the opposite, it has always been pretty hot. Tropical this time! The hottest race of the season brought a number of problems, including insufficient cooling of the engines and tires overheating, which lead to a lot of skidding in the practice. Räikkönen, Montoya and M. Schumacher turned the fastest. The Finn had to take his qualification lap first, which was disadvantage. Hungaroring is famous for its dirty surface that doesn't get better until it is swept by the cars, allowing to reach the fastest times. Despite that, he managed to get the fourth lap time after M. Schumacher (first pole in the season), Montoya and Trulli. Alonso was the sixth, moreover he lost his wing right after the start, had to pit beginning from the rear. Although Fisichella hung on the 9th place, it wasn't enough to bring any points for Renault anyway.
M. Schumacher and Räikkönen set off with light cars and had to refuel soon. Montoya took an advantage of that and ceased the leading post. The same repeated after the second pitstops. Unfortunately, the Colombian slowed down in the lap 40 and ended up in the pitstop - similar to Kimi from the 1st position in Germany. Michael Schumacher didn't make it to the lead after the pitstops then. He had to bend his neck to Kimi, ever increasing his advantage to final half a minute. Michael even had to stand his ground against his own brother Ralf, successfully. Trulli came the 4th. Button won points again and also Sato got his first points in the season. As well as both Williams‘ cars. There were no points left for Renaults and Red Bulls (crashed immediately after the start). Neither Barrichello won any points. It was also the last time for the tobacco sponsors‘ logos to appear. They are banned totally in the EU from the 1st August. That was why McLarens wore Johnny Walker's advertisements in advance. Let's see how they walk with Johnny. There is a gross unknown ahead of the F1 - the premiere of the GP of Turkey at the new course in Istanbul.
