Royal Monza for Montoya.
Formula 1 is dominated by McLaren, the same, however, may not be said about the Mercedes engines. They let K. Räikkönen down third time in this season. In spite of being the fastest he had to start from the 11th place. That left free space for Montoya to make his way from the pole position to the finish. The Michelin tires intervened with the McLarens' easy ride. Both cars experienced a serious damage of the rear left tires. Taking a risk J. Pablo didn't pit. He slowed down in the last three laps and crossed the finish line as a winner. Räikkönen came 4th. There were both Renaults ahead of him - Alonso and Fisichella. However, the gain was 16 points for McLaren, only 14 for Renault.
The race turned into a fiasco for Ferrari. For the first time in the last ten years the team didn't win any points at its home GP. M. Schumacher came 10th and Barrichello 12th. That was the 4th race in the season with no points for Ferrari. Quite the opposite, Toyota has improved and could beat Ferrari in the remaining races. A. Pizzonia with Williams, substituting for ill at ease Heidfeld, did surprisingly well coming 7th from the 16th place on the grid. Button and B.A.R. keep trying to reinstate their shape from the last year.Alonso has the Champion's Title at hand. Räikkönen got slowed down by many technical difficulties. Montoya might reach the 3rd place, making M. Schumacher sink lower. The situation in the Constructors Championship is open totally. In short, this year's Championship doesn't drop any thrill even at its end.
