Wet and Montoya
Those were the two most important factors influencing the GP of Belgium in Spa. The rain and fog marked all practice sessions and qualification. Both McLarens, Montoya and K. Räikkönen managed to cope with the unpleasant weather conditions the best. They were in the first row at the start. Behind them, there were Trulli, Alonso and Schumacher bros. They were careful on the wet road, except for Fisichella. He started from the 13th position after the change of engine and made his way rapaciously forward. But he crashed in the lap 10 which called for Safety Car's assistance. Most drivers went to pitstops imediatelly. This time, changing the tires from wet to midi, eventually dry later on was approved.
Montoya remained in the lead before M. Schumacher and Räikkönen. Then Sato hit Schumacher from behind and they both were out. Coulthard's engine failed. Montoya went to pits for the second time and Räikkönen took a unbelievably fast lap which ensure an advantage that he lived from until the finish. Montoya watched his back for his biggest rival Alonso.Ralf Schumacher put on his dry tires impatiently, which proved truly premature. After a skid he returned to the pits, droping to the 7th place. On the contrary, Barrichello, Button and Webber (4th to 6th place) moved forwards. Obviously Kimi was about to catch up with Alonso by 4 points, however Montoya spoiled this with his careless collision with a lap behind riding Pizzonia. That meant Kimi erased merely 2 points from Alonso's advantage.McLaren lost chance to get to the first position in the Constructors's Table and Montoya himself spoiled his own chance of reaching the 3rd place in the Championship, instead of Schumacher. It appears almost certain that amazingly tactical Fernando Alonso with Renault (3 times the 2nd place) is about to win the title. It is enough for him to reach any points' position.
