The first two years took place at the Fuji circuit, which however soon failed to follow all requirements. Therefore there was a 10 year gap after which the Suzuka circuit began to host the GP of Japan in 1987. It has a shape of irregular number eight, with a two-level crosroad. It is especially difficult in rain as there are only one longer and two short straights. That is why the pilots typically do not exceed 300kph.
