The brake system

It is possible to see this pair of tubular objects practically at all F1 cars, when the front part (the nose) has been removed. They are containers with braking fluid for the front and rear brakes. F1, similarly to the stock cars, features two independent systems, in this case one for the front and one for the rear brakes. Therefore there is one container for each system. Separated, i.e. independent, systems are essential in case of a breakdown. Should one of the systems fail, for example the front one, the driver is able to stop the car using the rear brakes. The braking fluid is incompressible and designed to withstand high temperature without changing its consistency.

This is important because of leaks and occurrence of air bubbles, which may distinctly and unpredictably limit the brakes reaction to depressing the brake pedal. In the front part, you can also see the steering gear and some pieces of the front suspension. Especially important for mechanics are those in the upper corners. They house the front roll bars and their adjusting mechanism.
