The GP of Canada appeared to be a pretty peaceful event in the direction of Renault F1 racing, who did very well both in the qualification and in the race. Alonso won again, Michael Schumacher passed Räikkönen several laps before the finish. The weather was sunny and nothing too dramatic happened during the race. J. Villeneuve crashed at the points gaining position when trying to pass R. Schumacher who had taken the whole race in his own slow pace, retiring in the end anyway. All in all it was very easy going race, only thrill having been brought by the above mentioned crash when the Safety car was deployed, which made all cars gather 7 laps before the end and virtually restart the race.
