I had a chance to experience the atmosphere of the GP from Friday to Sunday, wondering around the circuit, trying get some contacts, information and photos, of course.
The Saturday's sessions saw the asphalt of 42°C, air 20°C with humidity 42%. There was light refreshing breeze 1.2 m/s. Sunday's weather was similar but it started to rain after the race, at about 7.30pm and it was raining all the way back home.Renault dominated the race, Mercedes McLaren and Ferrari were fast as well. There were several dramatic moments in the race. The first when Kimi retired from the first position with a technical trouble. Alonso and Schumacher ensured a thrilling race, Michael trying to get over Alonso and win. As I learned later, thanks to slowing down by 2s in a lap, Alonso managed to keep Schumacher who did not have a chance to overtake him. How did this happen? Taking faster laps, it would be easier for Michael to overtake Fernando and win. However, when you take slower laps it is harder to get overtaken. That's how Alonso reached his 3rd victory in a row. Otherwise inconspicious novice Karthikeyan was very fast and I expect promising future for him. Bridgestone brought a brand new set of tires to Imola, which seemed to be an equal match to Michelin. Let us see what Ferrari has in store for the next race. We also heard that Red Bull signed a contract with Ferrari concerning engines' supply.
