FIA GT
DVB RACING has enjoyed an unbelievably strong start to the 2014 motorsport season. Following the victory of Nicolas Vandierendonck and Olivier Van Oost in the opening round of the BRCC GT Cup, the team also clinched two victories at Spa-Francorchamps during the first meeting of the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Benelux. With a further four additional podium places, the first Porsche weekend of 2014 was a perfect bull's eye for the team. DVB RACING will have little time to enjoy the laurels gained in the Ardennes, seeing following weekend the second round of the Belgian endurance championship, namely the BRCC is being held in Dijon.

2013 champion DVB
RACING is running three cars this season in the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Benelux.
Jeffrey Van Hooydonk and Koen Wauters wear the #1, whilst Xavier Maassen,
teamed up with the Frenchman François Perrodo in Spa, bears the #2. In the
colours of Thems Racing by Powercars Nicolas Vandierendonck and Olivier Van
Oost are battling it out with the #63.
"The concept of the
Porsche Challenge is simple. We have three races; two short ones of 25 minutes
and a longer one of 50 minutes", reigning champion Jeffrey Van Hooydonk
explained. "Each driver completes one sprint, and we compete together in the
longer race."
The champion promptly
won the first sprint, whilst his teammate Xavier Maassen took the chequered
flag in third place. Olivier Van Oost rounded off in the top 5.
"The team worked
extremely hard, in fact throughout the winter to have everything up and ready",
Frank Thuriaux summarised the situation. "I think I must thank all the team's
collaborators as also the partners for the enormous efforts they all put in.
The drivers performed brilliantly, especially Xavier who only confirmed his
participation at the last moment. In addition we are still on the look-out for
a bronze driver to join him for the upcoming race at Zandvoort."
The second race, on
Saturday morning, a mere few hours before the start of the World Endurance
Championship, Koen Wauters and François Perrodo finished in third and fourth
spot, whilst Nicolas Vandierendonck finished in a well deserved sixth place.
Undoubtedly the
cherry on the cake was the last race, held over 50 minutes. "In football it's
called a hat-trick", a laughing Koen Wauters commented. "We won here ahead of
our two teammates. Fantastic! I take off my hat to the DVB RACING boys."
Belgian Racing Car Championship.
DVB
RACING was also successful in the BRCC with the Thems Racing by
Powercars Ferrari 458 Challenge. At Circuit Zolder Nicolas
Vandierendonck and Olivier Van Oost brought home the first victory of the
season. "We are obviously delighted with such a start to the season", team
manager Frank Thuriaux commented. "The season is still long and competition in
this class is enormous. I'm delighted to see that this Belgian championship has
been able to bring together such a great starting field, and the race itself
was also exceptionally tense and exciting to follow."
