A familiar face ended up at the top of the charts in Collective Test 2 at Jerez, home of round 4 of the 2017 World Series Formula V8 3.5.
After spending the morning session practicing starts, Pietro Fittipaldi (Lotus) delivered an extremely quick late flying lap, cruising to P1 and breaking the 1 minute 28 second mark in 1:27”905. In the morning session rookie Konstantin Tereschenko (Teo Martin Motorsport) excelled to P1
It was a 1-2 finish for the Lotus team with championship leader Rene Binder taking second place in a productive run for him. Lining-up in spectacular weather, teams and drivers experienced a smooth session with no interruptions and perfect racing conditions. In third place, Diego Menchaca (Fortec Motorsports) was the top rookie with exactly the same laptime of Binder who prevailed for having set it first.
Russian Matevos Isaakyan (SMP Racing by AVF) posted the fourth fastest lap of the day, ending up close to the frontrunners and edging the RP Motorsport duo of Roy Nissany and Yu Kanamaru. Force India F1 third driver Alfonso Celis Jr. (Fortec Motorsports), Egor Orudzhev (SMP Racing by AVF), Damiano Fioravanti (RP Motorsport) and Nelson Mason (Teo Martin Motorsport) rounded out the top-10.
Pietro Fittipaldi (Lotus)
“We had issues with the starts recently so in the first Collective Test we didn’t even post a lap because we were doing starts and then coming back to the pits. I was able to do about 10 starts and I’m happy to say we found a solution. We kept practicing starts in the second session and I only did two runs. I completed three push laps on fresh tires and then two push laps on new tires but still ended up P1 and it was really good.”
Konstantin Tereschenko (Teo Martin Motorsport) “My session went on pretty good overall and when we put new tires on in the last two minutes I posted a good lap so we got a virtual pole position for this session. I think we can keep the speed and we hope to continue the same way for the rest of the weekend.”
