BBC World delves into the world of F1 to unveil
strategic business tactics
Philips Shavers sponsors unique BBC World series,
Formula For Success
London, 30 August. BBC World, the BBC’s 24-hour international news and
information channel, and Philips Shavers have signed a major sponsorship agreement
around the channel’s unique global business series, Formula For Success.
The new series, which premieres on BBC World on Saturday 1 September, delves
under the skin of the world’s greatest racing series to unearth the thrills, excitement and
skills at the cutting edge of Formula 1 motor racing and demonstrates how they are
relevant to the global business community.
The sponsorship package for Philips Shavers includes on-air and on-line advertising
around the Formula For Success series, which will be seen by BBC World’s 76 million
weekly viewers globally.
Formula For Success is a unique proposition as it’s the first time this subject has been
tackled in a television series in this way. Working in close partnership with the AT&T
Williams team, BBC World will turn the camera away from the race track to use the
Formula 1 analogy to highlight the challenges faced by today’s global businesses.
This partnership with the AT&T Williams team, combined with Philips Shavers’
sponsorship, provides the channel with its first ever tri-party agreement.
Narendhra Morar, commissioning editor, BBC World says, “This series presents a unique insight into business theory principles and practice illustrated through Formula
One, specifically the Williams F1 team. Never before has the subject been tackled in a television series in quite this way. Additional interest is provided by the appearance of a team of experts across the F1 spectrum, including Richard West, co-author of
Performance at the Limit: Business Lessons from Formula 1.”
Nick Meyern, director of branded content for Global Channels says, “This unique eightpart
series underlines BBC World’s depth of resource and reputation for quality featuredriven
content and we are delighted that Philips Shavers has partnered with us as
exclusive title sponsor. This innovative project will reveal just why the talent and
technology at the Williams team and F1 can be such important factors in helping
businesses improve performance.”
Nico Engelsman, Senior Vice President Philips DAP says, “We became involved in this
series to support our new arcitec shaver which will be launched worldwide from
September onwards. We are delighted to be working with BBC World as the profile of
their audience matches the type of consumer we are trying to reach.”
